Web design & typography

My name’s Jake and – you’ve guessed it – I’m a designer. I design and make websites & I love what I do.

I’m twenty one years old, and was born in Bristol. I have a passion for good design and love to produce it. I code my websites myself in PHP, HTML5 and CSS3. I also dabble in some jQuery when I'm feeling adventurous. I use Typekit to source the best webfonts on my websites to make them even more sexy, and also have hosting services, so I can pretty much do everything for you. My hot drink of choice is currently tea. Milk no sugar.

Typography is my main strength in design. Along with webdesign I’m also available for print & editorial design projects. I have spent possibly too many hours using Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign and am pretty handy with them. I work from home on my lovely Macbook pro with two external screens because I’m greedy for screen space and never seem to have enough. It has a lovely cover from the guys at Grove. You should check them out.

I’m currently situated in Reading, and am regularly in London and Bristol. Due to the nature of design, I can work for clients across the country and am more than willing to travel to meet if needed.

Broaden your horizons

I was lucky enough to be able to travel round the world a few years ago and got some pretty sweet photos. From then I have always wanted to keep on broadening my horizons. I am currently taking a degree in Graphic Communication & Typography. I want to learn as much as possible about design and take every opportunity to do so.

I have been to design conferences including TYPO LONDON 2011, Critical Tensions 2011 & Making Magazines 2012. I will also be attending FOWD 2012 and Ampersand 2012 in the coming months.
